Save Our Streams

Defenders of the Cabin Branch Watershed

(In less than 50 minutes YOU can perform a physical description, stream flow analysis and chemical profile of YOUR local stream site!)

Introduction

WELCOME to the LGS Chapter Save Our Streams (SOS) page!

We hope you will join us in monitoring a stream site on the Cabin Branch, or a local stream site of YOUR choosing! The Chapter conducts a Physical description, Stream flow analysis, and chemical profile on three sites on the Cabin Branch. We can provide on-hands training for these three modules as well as loaning you the SOS test equipment and supplies. Please contact the SOS Coordinator at the bottom of this page for assistance.

The Chapter also conducts biological monitoring for school groups. We collect and identify macro-invertebrates as proxy indicators for non-point source pollution in the Cabin Branch watershed. We also have a number of dip nets and seine nets to engage your youth group and adult volunteers.
